What made you book a boudoir session?
I originally looked into booking a boudoir session as a gift for my boyfriend, but after I tried to hint at it and he said, "I don't think sexy photos are my thing," I then decided that I would book the session so I could celebrate how I looked now, because I'm about to turn 25. And I've heard that the mindset in beauty should be that you will never look as good as you do now. So with that in mind, I booked my session.
How did you feel coming into the studio?
I actually came into the studio feeling a bit down on myself because of some external factors. That, and I didn't exactly look like what I wanted and when you combine both of those things, I wasn't feeling too confident in how I looked.
How did you feel during your session (specifically once you saw your photos on the back of camera)?
Initially I was nervous. I can be pretty awkward on camera, and like I said I wasn't feeling so confident in myself. But Sivan is so personable, and she was such a great cheerleader, it was hard to stay down on myself. And then I got a peek behind the camera and was rendered speechless for a moment, because I was so surprised that I looked like that. I had so many doubts going in, but after Sivan made me laugh, it was so easy to be myself.
How did you feel after your session?
I felt so good that I went home and had the attitude of, "I look so good that Asanti (my boyfriend) is going to come in and see me and it is going to be electric." But I got home, and was so tired that I wanted to take a nap, but kept myself up because Marie did such a good job on my hair and make-up and I didn't want to take it off until Asanti saw. So I did the thing that you're not supposed to do and slept in my make-up.
How do you feel now after seeing your final images?
During my reveal session, I was mentally taken back to the session when I was speechless over how l looked. And then I was so bummed I didn't plan to keep more than the package that I paid for, because all the photos looked PHENOMENAL. Like I felt I looked like an ethereal angel, even though I feel like a toad sometimes. I will probably be flipping through these photos anytime I feel down on myself, because they make me feel so good about myself.
Anything you'd like to say to other women who are hesitating to do this for XYZ reason?
Do it! You are the longest relationship you'll have in your life, so you have to learn to love yourself and the skin your in. If you struggle with your self-image, it might help you to see how someone else sees you, or how a camera lens sees you. It might just make you love yourself a little more.
