From Modest to Magnificent | Orlando Boudoir Photography

Tell us your story, a little bit about you and what led you to do a boudoir session?

I am 38 and quit my job about a year and a half ago to stay at home with my daughter. I taught at West Orange HS for 10 years. Since then, I have been a completely different person. My husband says I am the happiest he's ever seen me. I guess 10 years of teaching high school can really drain you. My husband was turning 40 in July and I remember a friend did boudoir photos before she got married over 10 years ago. We originally wanted to throw a huge party for his 40th or travel somewhere epic but my husband's brother was getting married so all 40th birthday plans had to take a backseat.

I chose boudoir because I still wanted my husband to have something special for his 40th birthday. This was totally out of my comfort zone but I thought he would be totally surprised.

Any advice you'd like to give your fellow Lovelies on doing a session and how it could be helpful?

I booked this session on a whim and needed it done in time for his birthday. So I booked it and then came in for my session in less than a week!! There was no getting ready for it! No amount of working out or shopping made me feel ready to come in, but I knew it had to be done at that time in order to be ready for his birthday. I came in very nervous, not confident in my body, and just jittery. I tried on my outfits at home and of course compared myself to Victoria’s Secret models (which I am not!) and felt decent but of course scrutinized every flaw.

After 5 minutes doing the shoot I was totally impressed by myself! I felt so confident after seeing those sneak peeks in the camera. I also started off with a very "modest" outfit of just a button down and undies. If you are not sure... start modest! By the end of that outfit when Sivan mentioned taking off the shirt and being nude under the sheets for a few pics I didn't even hesitate. When I went to put on my sexier black lingerie I didn't even hesitate. At that point I was just having fun and feeling very confident. I learned that day that I'm sure that Victoria’s secret models pose in ways to accentuate their bodies to always look good!!

You will never be perfectly happy with your body, weight, etc. But Sivan knows how to pose you to look your best!! Don't worry about preparing.... I had no time to prepare and I'm in love with my photos! Start modest if you're unsure and then just see where it goes! My more modest photo is hanging in my bathroom where my 2 year old can see and it is so classy and I don't worry about her seeing it. When she's older I think she'll be in awe of me! :)
